Studies could be ends in their own right, but they can often be preludes to design or renovation projects, opening doors to other possibilities. More than just rigorous technical examinations, effective studies may adopt imaginative “out-of-the-box” approaches to investigative work.

Studies may be un-built projects that explore an architectural question or idea; others may be more pragmatic or technical in nature, focussed on a particular issue.
