The heart and soul of a residential project is always the client. Whether new construction or renovation, the clients’ expectations and character set the tone for the entire project. Home renovations, like growing families, adapt to changing needs, preserving continuity between the old and the new, even as the new is inserted into a familiar setting.
Good residential design responds to the demands of everyday life, serving functional needs but also giving shape and form to the ideas and customs it embodies. In close collaboration with our clients, we identify the underlying motives driving the project. Solutions emerge in direct response to the particular circumstances and the immediate context of the work, free of pre-conceived ideas or conventional ready-made styles.
The overriding idea guiding all aspects of our work is to do simple things with ordinary stuff, to build it well, and to make it look good. Wherever possible we take advantage of the graphic, expressive potential of ordinary elements. Sometimes the most radical transformation can be achieved with small gestures and a light touch.
