Young Adult section

The Young Adult Section is a new precinct created within the existing library, dedicated to various needs of and activities for school-age teens. Visually distinct from the remainder of the library, it has its own unique carpet, and is surrounded by dark grey shelving of varying heights. The taller units, visible as a silhouette above the adjacent white shelving, form a sort of “permeable wall” that remains open while providing a sense of enclosure and a “club room” feel. Conversely the lower units, near the main access and circulation desk, permit discreet supervision when required. There is seating to accommodate every posture: a window seat with power connections for laptops, bar stools at a counter with networked workstations, and work chairs at tables for meeting and studying.
